an explanation

So I guess I should explain that picture from the last post for all of you who don't know my background. I grew up in a little town in AZ called Alamo Lake. It was actually a state park, but there was a dam on the site owned by the federal government. My dad worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers and operated the dam. Or in other words, yes, he was a dam operator. (Believe me, I've heard my share of jokes over the years...we drove the dam truck, up the dam hill, carried the dam bucket with the dam water, you could go on forever) Anyhoo...

The nearest town was Wenden which was about 1/2 an hour away. That's where the post office was, the school, and our little LDS branch. Our church meetings were held in the elementary school gym for several years after we moved there. Then, the new branch building was built some time in 83, just before I got baptized, because I remember being one of the first few to get dunked in their font.

This picture shows the entire primary. I'm one of the few white girls (LOL) in the middle in yellow. Some of my fellow bloggers and family are in this picture as well. How fun is that? Oh and my younger brother is also in this shot, the one crying and hiding his face. That's how all his pictures look, from about the age 3 up to about graduation from high school. The poor kid hated getting his picture taken. I was going to add a link to his myspace page, but it really is super lame. (ha ha Ben!)

Angelina of course, and ShawnaRae's a maybe; Melissa said she'd meet us out there. I think I'll make a bigger post so more people know about it. Should be fun, noon to 5-ish.
