umm...success?

Carrots from my garden.

Stupid stinkin' garden.

I am the world's worst gardener. And I want so badly to be good at it! Prior to these carrots (which are betwen 1-3 inches long) in my four years of planting gardens twice a year, I've had one cherry tomato as my only edible produce. Sigh. I think my soil is bad. I have tried almost everything I can think of. More water, less water, more shade, less shade, fertilizer, new fresh dirt straight from the bag, etc etc. I've talked to gardeners, asked for advice, and searched the net. I am just not meant to live off my land. But the Prophet says to grow a garden. So I do.

So, to sum up, in four years, somewhere around 6-8 attempts at planting, I've 'harvested' one cherry tomato and about half a dozen really lame carrots.

Abe finally has perfected the art of gardening. But first he dug up about 18" of soil and replaced it with a mixture of lots of different things. Then he started his intensive gardening and we have been dining healthily ever since. If it were up to me, we would starve. I have no green in either of my thumbs.

Tonight we had romaine and spinach salad. They actually survived the freeze last month. Good luck and if you need any fun ideas, just let us know.

The carrots remind me of when I was young, they are about the same size and we used to get..... maybe we used to get to excited and pull them out b4 they had finished growing.

Yeah I am there with you. I have the worst luck with gardens. I had some stuff growing, I had tomatoes that were just turning colors when we had that hard freeze a month ago. Then just as everything was getting better, we got a puppy. Who has torn up my entire garden area. Yup she is a digger. Oh well, maybe someday I will have a garden like my dad... sigh. I wish!
