we're home!

We got released last night at around 8:00 and boy are we glad to be home. First, we had to run a few errands--picked up new carseats (3) and an Rx for Cam and then went to collect our boys. We were all so happy to see each other! First time we'd all been together since the accident, literally! And oh, to sleep in our own beds. My neck already feels better!

Anyway, this morning was a bit rough and crazy...forgot about Sean's basketball camp for one thing, so we rushed around a bit and were able to get a ride for him. 3 loads of laundry, dishes, (fortunately I'd gone shopping the night before the accident, so our fridge is full...small blessings!) and then setting up doctors visits and follow ups for all of us. Pediatrician, family doctor, trauma doctor, plastic surgeon doctor... and soon I need to start collecting all our info so AHCCCS can help with our medical bills. It's just tedious gathering everything we need. Fortunately we have a fax that sometimes works, so that helps in these situations.

Little things get me every now and then...like this morning when I was doing laundry, I pulled out the pair of shorts Cameron was wearing during the accident--interestingly enough, these were the only article saved; the other boys' clothing was all cut off at the scene. So as I was putting them away today, I just had to hug them a little bit, shed a tear, and move on. Same thing with their blankets they had with them at the time.

We're hearing the good (??) news that what caused the accident was likely a tire blowout. This is what the highway patrol officer told Danny this morning; of course they are still investigating but there was no citation given at the scene (for drunk driving, etc) so that actually makes us feel heaps better. It doesn't change anything, except my ability to forgive. Shame on me! But I do feel better towards her already.

For those truly interested, I have posted my entire album of 130+ pics in the Picture Gallery from the last 6 days. You'll see pics from the accident scene the night of, the car, my kids, lots of blood, etc, as well as our development while in the hospital, our development since, and some pics from Danny's return to the site on Monday morning. Not that many of you will be interested, but I know some family members will be. To see that, go here.

Surprisingly enough, I only gained back my 2 pounds I had lost last week. Likely I lost a couple of more the first few days at St. Joes, but after that, I was eating ohsofattening hospital food, 3 squares a day. You get my drift! Anyway, I'm just back to my starting position and ready to clear the gate. One of these days, I'll get somewhere with this diet. Still hoping for 16 pounds by Sean's baptism!!

So glad you are all home, and mending. I am going on vacation next week, but the following week I would like to make you all a meal. I can whip up some mean Green Chile Burros if I do say so myself... I know with doctor's appointment's and all that business, getting dinner on the table will be rough going. So send me a PM through KT with your number and I will call you and set up a day that works for you. Take Care.
