soft pretzels (2 WW points)

1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups flour
1 egg, beaten (for brushing on top before baking)
2 tbsp kosher salt (optional)

To make dough...

For bread machine:
Put water, flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in recommended order (for your bread machine) and put on dough cycle.

For manual dough:
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine yeast mixture, sugar, salt, and 1 cup flour; beat ell. beat in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until stiff dough is formed. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in volume.

After dough is ready...
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 12 pieces. Roll pieces out into long sticks and form into pretzel shape Place pretzels on prepared baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt. You could also use a cinnamon sugar mixture instead of salt. Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Serves 12, 2 pts each.

I made my dough in the breadmaker, but it came out a bit tough. Next time I'll try the manual method. These are really good, 'specially all warm from the oven. Yum!

I am so going downstairs and making those RIGHT NOW. I deserve some tasty pretzels, but then I might need some nacho cheese to dip them in...
