is there an eight-year curse on houses or something?

Cuz in the past 6 weeks we've had to fix/replace 5 different things in our home--and not little cheapo things either!

It started with the $350 water heater in the garage, then the garage door itself ($150) followed by the springs in our door-leading-to the garage ($12 each, but still). Then, the day before our Labor Day trip our garbage disposal went out, started leaking all over the place, everything. ($100)

Yesterday we found out our sprinkler system had sprung a leak underground. When our bill was about $15 higher than planned I was a little concerned, but just thought, "Oh, we'll have to be more careful next month." But fortunately, Danny decided to set up a drip system for my garden, and in doing so, unearthed the sprinkler system and found a huge leak. $100 later for all the replaced valves, he's just about got it fixed.

Sheesh! I'm starting to think any future home we live in has to be 7 years old or less before we move...

Isn't home ownership wonderful? It's weird how things tend to break in groups. Hopefully you'll be drama free for awhile now :)

That's irritating! But yeah I think they build them so they start to self destruct. Home Depot, Lowe's and Wal-Mart are in league with all home builders so they will be able to suck us dry!

You know the saying...when it rains it pours. We are on the edge of needing a couple new major appliances and I am seriously just holding my breath!

I hope your streak is over and that you have another 7 years of peace!

I'd actually heard 5-7 so you did good! There is definitely a curse, the stuff isn't made to last. Sorry about everything happening all at once.

I know exactly how you feel about houses. Our's was built in 1950, we're the third owner. This last summer our irrigation pump went out, got a new one put in and while in away for 2 weeks, the timer went out and other stuff breaks constantly. There's no end in sight.
We've owned this house since June 1992.

Hang in there!
