pinewood derby last tuesday night

For Sean's very first pinewood derby with Cub Scouts he did pretty well! He scored 9th out of 21 applicants. He won two of his first few heats...pretty fun! He did this car all by himself. Some of the other cars looked like Model cars, seriously, so detailed with engines and cut-outs and seats and what-not. (Umm...the kids made those??) We wanted Sean to be proud of the fact that he designed, cut out, made, painted etc, everything all by himself. =)

The videos are a bit wonky because, well, to be honest, it's because Danny did the videoing (and I love you!) but that's ok. Better than nothing. So stand on your head or whatever you need to view these short clips of a couple of the heats. (He's in lane four and I think he won on the first video. On the second video he's in lane 2.)

I love Pinewood Derby Day! It's so much fun! He should be totally proud that he did the whole thing by himself. That's why we do our at our Den Meetings so no one can come in with an adult made car, the cutting, sanding, painting, weighing everything at church. Have you ever seen that movie they made about dads going crazy competitive over making their sons derby cars? "Down and Derby." It's too true!

well, It's no soap box derby... Dylan has his race on the 23...He has to miss the Soap Box Derby race for the Pinewood derby! Lol, tell sean he did a great job! We're having a workshop on tuesday at our lowes for building the cars. Thanks for the keyboard tips!

Yay for the Pinewood Derby!! We haven't done one of these in a couple of years but Kade is coming up next year!! So exciting!

And, that's great that he made his own car! I'm not too sure if any of the other boys can make that claim!! Way to go! :o)
