make it fast, cook it slow

Last year, I met (online) a new friend named Stephanie O'Dea. She is otherwise known as the Crockpot Lady. She's the crazy person who decided to crockpot a meal every single day of 2008. And her family is gluten-free on top of that! Can you believe her gumption? Her ambition? Her insanity? =)

Over the year, I'd comment on her blog and occasionally dabble with my slow cooker--remember the ol' brownies in a crockpot video? How about the peanut clusters one? (yeah, that's me, I only use my crockpot for desserts) But I did get plenty of ideas from her site which did inspire me to ask for a new crock last Christmas, which I got, and have used twice.

But I digress.

Anyway, so she became my online friend. She's even the one who introduced me to blogher and the lovely ad network you see pictured to the right of this post. Stephanie, other than being an amazing cook and ambitious goal-follow-through-er *grin* not only wrote a cookbook this past year from all of her experiences, but she's also"slow-cooking baby #3" which is due in December. Busy much??

She was sweet enough to include my blog in the acknowledgements in her book AND send me a free copy! How cool is that?! Seeing my blog site so official in print is a kick in the pants I tell ya.

So go check out her current site, Totally Together, her 2008 Slowcooker Challenge Site (using her crockpot every day for a year) and order her book, "Make it Fast, Cook it Slow" off Amazon.

Then you can look like me. (not that you'd want to, and sorry about the hair, I'm actually rip-roaring sick right now and I'd just gotten out of bed to take this picture)

Amie, thank you so much for writing this up. I had *such* a ball with this project, and meeting you was definite icing on the cake.
You are wonderful.

Ooooh I hadn't heard of this book but I got a free crockpot about a month or so ago and I haven't stopped using it since - I LOVE it!!! I swear it has changed my life and made my days soooo much easier.

I am so tired by supper time and sooo NOT in the mood to cook and I LOVE that with the crockpot everything is already done!!! :)

Definitely picking this book up :) Thanks!!

I love crockin', I slow cook my porkchops in there. I just throw in as many as will fit, frozen solid, add some garlic and onion powder and turn it on for 8 hrs. When they come out the meat just falls off the bone! Yum!
