We got some free tickets to visit the Phoenix Zoo for their Zoo Lights event last week, so I was very excited to use my camera for the first time on all that color and sparkle!
Of course I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing with it yet, so it was kind of a trial and error evening. The kids and hubby would walk on ahead, meanwhile I was back photographing light displays using every setting I could in a hurry. Nothing too great my first time out--things are definitely better when I can sit still (and so does my subject) but at least I got some good night photography practice.

I think I was slightly in love with this big blue tree.
One of my favorite things about this camera is the face that it has video capability! The older Rebels do not, and it (along with the whopping price tag) was always a deterrant in me seriously considering this camera. Voila the newer T1i's have video! Woot woot! Here's a sample.

you nee to shoot at a faster mode (1/60 or higher) to avoid camera shake and a higher iso (blurry photos) the video feature is awesome. i recommend shooting in the day time and use the av mode and take control of your aperture settings. the camera records the info of the settings study these setting and learn what works. for group shots use a setting of 8.0 or higher to be sure that everyone is in focus. its a great camera if you can control it.
