Like many of you in this fine city, my kids participated in the summer reading program (which reminds me, I still have to order Ethan's 'free' book for completing his reading; the one he requested was on backorder the last time I looked). The library and the city have put on some really great events this season-I've been so impressed!
This past week, it was the mega craft day, all having to do with water activities fitting in with the rest of the library's summer program theme. Here are the treasures my kiddos made and then splayed out all over the house.
Two words: glitter sucks -and-I'm-so-glad-I-don't-have-girls-so-I-don't-have-the-headache-of-glitter-on-dolls,-ponies,toys,-hair-things,-clothing,-shoes,craft-projects-etc-on-a-regular-basis.
The glitter crafts went right in the trash.
Notice Ethan doing rabbit ears on himself.
These shark hats were so fun; but I hear that the teeth are rather poky.
The glitter!! Gahh!
All three of the 'puffer fish' (the stuffed & decorated brown paper bag) ended up in our empty aquarium, which I think is pretty perfect since we haven't been able to keep a fish alive for a while.
Aren't the aquariums the cutest thing? The blue goo inside is hair gel! I also thought the under-the-sea cookies were rather clever.
The kids were really well behaved and took the entire 90 minutes allotted for the crafting activities. Very cool opportunity.
