In preparation for the some-day-maybe-my-kitchen-will-be-black,-white-,and-red, I have tweaked some Christmas decorations around my house.
This set of trees I made during our first year of marriage I think, back when Homemaking was Homemaking and we had an annual crafy Super Saturday at church with all the ladies--this little beaut was forest green with splatter paint and some country gingham ribbon. Dated!!
I spray painted them white, sanded them a bit to let the darker back show through, and added some little red ribbon. Not anything too exciting or involved, but I think they look a bit more modern this way.
Next, I had seen a set of snowmen made from candles that a friend of mine made. Monica has a craft site and and etsy page and she's made some of the cutest little Christmas decos I've seen this year. Go here to see her version, and here is how mine turned out.
I think they are so cute!
Next up is a plate-and-candlestick cake stand combo that Cameron made at Scouts last year as a Christmas present for me. I do love it; it's so simple and pretty. But I decided I didn't love the color this year, so I spray painted it. Black.
See?
I have more up my sleeve but this is it for now. I'm in the middle of painting and redecorating my kitchen (holy toledo that is a mess...is it too late to just hire out?) so that's taking all my creativity and free time right now.
