family home evening time capsule

Every year, we take note of everyone's stats (height and weight) and favorites (foods, activities, movies, songs, etc) and bury our time capsule of sorts in the side yard.  I'm not sure how long we've been doing it now, the the bottle held evidence from at least 2007--but it only holds so much, so it's possible we've done it quite a bit longer.

Anyway, for Family Home Evening some time in January we dig it up, write new ones, have a campfire in the backyard, and bury it again.  The kids just love it.  And I love any excuse to have a campfire.  :)  It also gave me lots of opportunity to play with the night settings on my new camera.

The glasses were from last week when we went roller skating for the first time for Chris' birthday party.  That was so fun, and I did bring my camera, but I decided to leave it in the car because I didn't want to have to worry about it while I was out falling skating.

OK so self-portraits are a bit harder with this cam. . . I'm too afraid to drop the thing.

The adults in the family all lost weight from last year and the kids in the family all gained inches and weight from last year.  Just as it should be.  :)

We really enjoy reading about past years' faves and stats.  I then usually end up scrapbooking the details so they are kept.

sounds like a great way to sum up the year and mark progress (although i'm not sure i'd like to see my own stats!)
