We had the fun opportunity to get away from the city a bit and do some overnight camping. We didn't go far, just Estrella Mountain Park, but camping is camping.
I didn't take too many pics because the boys spent most of their time on one of the many nearby playgrounds. I read and tanned and read some more and got stung by a bee. {that hasn't happened since I was a kid, and it didn't hurt, but holy toledo did I have a reaction! I'm not allergic to bees, but I had what The Internets call a "large local reaction"--I'm talking pain, itching, redness, swelling, and heat. My affected calf was an inch larger than the other and the sting site was hard and hot. Lovely.}
Bee sting and all, we still had a lovely time.
At night, we played a rousing game of "Would You Rather?" A mildly disturbing yet amusing game full of gross scenarios perfect for little boys.
And of course, my favorite part, dessert. I've gotten quite good at making skillet popcorn while out in the Wild.
And s'mores using chocolate/peanut butter oreos, are you kidding me? Yes please.
At night I had to get up to go pee at like 1 in the morning. I was pretty sure I was going to be murdered, walking out in the night, hearing strange noises in the campground potty, imagining a crazed axe murderer out on the loose waiting for me around the corner. We were all pretty amused by my terror the next morning when I recounted the story.
I was just glad to be alive. Stung and swollen, but alive.
