lately uploaded on my ipod

It's been...I don't know...maybe a year since I've updated the thing. Who has time to upload music and then who has time to listen to it? When I get in my car, I'm usually thinking too much to be bothered by music (I talk to myself when I'm stressed out, and lately I spent lots of time talking to myself!), and current DJs on the radio just get on my nerves.

Dan has been my source for most things musical, so most of these I stole from him.

"Carry On" by Fun. These guys are from the Valley, I hear, so that makes me like them even more. However, on occasion, the lead singer sounds like a dying cat (winning feature, right?), but if you can ignore that one horrid note during the bridge, it's a pretty catchy song.

"The Sound of a Million Dreams" by David Nail. I linked to this (somewhat boring) video this past week. I am still geeking out over the music. If I had a spare minute, I'd try to learn it on the piano, but my piano and I have been strangers lately. We're not exactly on speaking terms at present.

"You Belong to Me" by Gray Holiday. This is actually from the "Fireproof" movie from a few years ago. Still one of my favorite movies of all time, and this music, although not something I'd normally listen to, really epitomizes a key moment in the movie. I always picture the scene when I hear it.

"The Final Teen Spirit Matchup (Nirvana vs. Europe)" by Wax Studio. Another I linked to a few weeks ago and I still stop in my tracks whenever I hear this one. It's just so good.

"We are Young" again by Fun. When I first heard this group, I couldn't tell if the lead singer was male or female (see previous comment about the dying cat); at times he almost has a Tracey Chapman quality to his voice (think "Fast Car" from the 1988). I dare you to listen to verses of this song and not think of an African American woman in dreadlocks. I also dare you watch this video and not think the phrase "What the heck?!?" even once. Having said that, I do like it. Give it a chance.

"I Like it Like That" by Hot Chelle Rae. I'm predisposed to hate this one because right off the bat, they say their own name in the song. *Pet peeve alert* It does not claim the most intellectual of lyrics (or video), but it's good for a jam session in your living room. (disclaimer, this version is not the one I listen to--there's a better non-rap version out there)

"These Times" by Safety Suit. Kind of a gut-wrenching video. Check it.

"The One that Got Away" actually a Katy Perry song, but I don't like her version. This one is by Tiffany Alvord and it's so much prettier. I skip Katy's version on the radio everytimeitcomeson, but this one has me crooning along. Lovely harmonies.

"New York" by Snow Patrol. I think I linked to this one a few months ago as well; it's also the most recent song I learned on the piano. Those of you who know me best know that when I fall for a song, I put it on repeat for days. This is one of those songs. Sigh. I still love it.

And lastly, "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. Beautiful song, beautiful video.

So what else is out there? What am I missing? And what have you been listening to?
