two weeks...i can do anything for two weeks.

So, the summer has been great.  Fun and busy with lots of fun trips and lots of eating.  My weight has gotten up to a number I haven't seen in over 3 years and my resolve to diet, well, has anyone seen it?  I just haven't been able to get motivated and stay motivated.

That's when I get drastic, break out the big guns, and go for any fad diet available.  I know, so unhealthy of me.  But my thought is, if I can just get a jump start, a kick start, a kick in the pants to start losing weight, maybe I can return to regular Weight Watchers methods and get back on track.

I mentioned this to Danny and he said he'd do everything he could to support and help me, including go on a two week Atkins diet with me.  Well, I've never done it with someone before.and heaven knows it's hard to diet and cook great yummy-smelling food for everyone else, but if he's on board with me, I'm hoping it'll help me to stick with it.

I'm just doing the two weeks (today is Day #3) and then I'll go back to counting points, because personally, I really do feel that a lifestyle of Atkins eating is just not healthy, and it's so anti-Word of Wisdom, you know?  But this is two short weeks to get me going.  I figure I'd be happy with losing 7, ecstatic with 10 and anything beyond that I will just do cartwheels over.  Figuratively.

Wish me luck!

Good luck! You've go so much more will power than I do, you'll do great! My brother has lost so much weight on Atkins, he's not diabetic anymore! They say you drop 20 lbs in the first two weeks. Lots of it is water weight! Hope it works out for you! I'm sure it will!

I lasted 7 days on Atkins before I was crying while my kids were eating toast. And I'm not a big bread eater :) James loves Atkin's and has lost about 25lbs on it. I've always done best on SlimFast :)

Everyone thinks Atkins is so unhealthy. Ugh. My hubby lost 65 pounds on it and has kept it off. The induction part (the first 2 weeks is torture.) Tim does a modified Atkins. He has all the fruits and veggies he want (except grapes and bananas.) He will have the ocassional sweet. He just stays away from the high carbs: bread, tortillas, crackers, pasta! It was funny, Tim quit sugar altogether for about 3 months. He only lost like 12 pounds. He cut out his carbs and lost like 40 pounds in 6 months. It is the carbs we eat. Think about obesity today compared to 50 years ago when people ate high protien diets and less sugar and carbs. I think a modified Atkins diet is the way to go! It is for sure a mans diet.
