book butterfly reviews -- september

I'm not gonna whine.   I promise.

But man, I miss reading for fun!

Yet again, ONE lousy book for this month.  I had to change my GoodReads goal from 75 to 45 books read this year.  I somehow accomplished it last year, but for some reason, I'm just not getting through them very fast this time around.  Oh well.

I graduate in 10 weeks.

So there.

It's so surreal, when people ask me when do I finish or how long do I have to go or when is graduation, to say, "This is our last block.  We graduate in December."  We are currently IN our last clinical (ICU/Critical Care at Banner Estella Hospital).  Surreal, I tell you.

Totally awesome.

So I'm not gonna whine about not reading more books!  However, I do wish there were more options for books on tape/CD.  I finally found one from my reading list that is available this way, and I'm loving it.

For September, I read:

Half Broke Horses: A True-Life Novel

"Half Broke Horses" by Jeannette Walls

liked it (my current rating) liked it (my current rating) liked it (my current rating)

I read this for a bookclub, and I'll admit right here and now that it's not the type of book I'd normally pick up on my own.

It is based on the true character of spunky Lily Casey Smith and her adventures in Texas and Arizona. I didn't love it. It was interesting and it was ok writing, just not the kind that grabbed me. (took me a month to read it--but that probably has more to do with my school schedule than the quality of the book) My favorite parts were when she came to AZ because I started recognizing names and places, but I don't know that I'd recommend this as a Must-Read or anything. It was just ok.

For the record, Dan and I are almost done with Harry Potter 5--one more good road trip or ride out to the temple oughta do it--and that is one big ol' honkin' book.  :)  And I'm already half-way finished with two others on my own.  So October's looking up.

And I graduate in 10 weeks, so, there's that.  :)

What are you reading?
